Berkshire Report.

Berkshire English Skeet Report by Keith Kilvington

Sunday 25th May and a wet overcast NCSC was the venue for the 26 Berkshire brave to shoot the English Skeet County Championship.
The first few squads braved the elements and after an hours wait the scores started to come in Tony May 99, Stephen Halfacre 98, Charlie Hancock 97, and Andy Seaman 97.
The day continued with the competitors braving heavy showers but no one could break the strangle hold of these shooters.
Ken Harman posted another 97 and skeet newcomer Nicola Gryspeerdt posted an excellent 95.
It wasn’t until the last squads went out that challenging scores would be posted
( except mine of course!!!!!!). Ross Pottinger shooting 98 and then stalwart of the Berkshire shooting community Eric Davis with a fine 99 to tie with Tony.
Another outstanding contribution was from young Colt Michael Claessens 86 he was shooting his first skeet competition and he’s been a CPSA member for less than a week!!!! Very well done.
A shoot off was needed to separate Tony and Eric and after 25 targets it was still all square, pairs on peg four were next and it was eventually Tony May who was victorious and the new County Champion.
Final scores were:-
Tony May was County Champion, Eric Davis was Veterans Champion,
Nicola Gryspeerdt was Ladies Champion, Charlie Hancock was Junior Champion and Michael Claessens was Colt Champion
AA Class winner Ross Pottinger, A Class Andy Seaman,
B Class Stephen Halfacre and C Class Matt Sell
Many thanks must go to the trophy sponsors who were Sheephouse Shooting Supplies, R+M Pottinger, Slough Turf, R.Hutt& Partners and Flightline Targets.

Olympic Skeet Report by Keith Kilvington

The 9/6/07 saw the 7th County Championship of the year which was Olympic Skeet , this is one of only three Olympic Games disciplines shot involving clay targets and it obviously frightened a few of us away due to it's demanding nature...me included!!!
Only 6 Berkshire members felt up to the challenge but the weather was good and the welcome friendly at the NCSC.
Ken Harman and Junior Leslie Johnstone were the ones to watch and at the 50 target point they were both square shooting an impressive 48/50.The next line was to separate them with Leslie dropping 5 targets to Ken's 2.
Once again Ken kept his nerve to finish on 94/100 taking the County Championship, Leslie was close behind on 90/100 which gave him the Junior champion prize, Sean O'Shea finished 79/100, the Veterans was won by Eric Davis 72/100...must have been the new hat!!!! Will Scott shot 67/100 and Nicola Gryspeerdt followed up her English Skeet win by taking the Ladies with 57/100.

SE Inter-counties ABT by Keith Kilvington.

On Sunday 10th June Berkshire had its first foray into the SE Inter-county Championships after our move from the SW Region earlier this year.
The venue was the NCSC and the competition was ABT. The team consisted of S.Halfacre, K.Kilvington, E.Davis, K.Harman, M.Vere-Hodge and C.Miles who was the reserve. Karen Ricketts was the Lady shooter, Eric Davis was the Veteran and Simon Clarke represented us in the Colts.
Many other Berkshire members turned out to shoot in the competition as well.
A great day was had by all and we did not disgrace ourselves coming 3rd overall with a score of 462/500, 2nd were Greater London 469/500 and the winners were Sussex with 470/500.
The star for Berkshire was our Colt Simon Clarke who shot 87/100 to take the SE Colts Championship, very well done!!
Many thanks to all who were there, once again we were made most welcome Sandie and all who were there.

Other News by Nicola Heron.

Berkshire shooters have been very successful in the qualifying rounds of the Mitsubishi Motors World Series.

Highclere Country Fair held the second qualifying round and Berkshire Lady Pam Tibbats was glad to take second place (by 1 point) to S.Kalkschmidt because she won a Webley & Scott 910s O/U shotgun, a gun slip and a skeet vest from Runakop.

Rachel Harding qualified again (for the third time) at Parham Park, Sussex Game Fair on Sunday 17th June, also winning a Webley and Scott shotgun and Runakop clothing.

Not to be out done by the fantastic women Roger Miles also qualified at Parham, picking up a Webley and Scott and clothing.
This puts our Berkshire shooters in to the final to be shot at the Midlands Game Fair in September. Very best of luck to all of you.

Also Carl Miles entered his first selection shoot at OT, held at southern counties and shot a great 103 ex 125 to win D class. He had set his target score at 103 and got it spot on. He beat R Middleton another Berkshire shooter by just one target. Keep it up boys.

European Helice Championships.

Finally the Berkshire Helice shooters were at it again, this time at Marcello Dradi's ground Madonna del Bosco near Bologna, Italy. The shoot was over 5 days with the European Championship held in the middle on the 1st and 2nd of June. All the British team shot very well.
Berkshire might be delighted to know that we now hold the Ladies European Title for 2007.........so Berkshire 1 rest of Europe 0.
A great big thank you goes out to Claudio at A1 Shooting Ground because if he had not taken the risk to put a Helice ring in, that throws International targets then I would not have had so much luck. It was a double for our home ground A1 because James Cook won the men's title after a grueling shoot off and he is only a junior, first time as GB badge......no curse of the badge for you James well done.....so come on all you Berkshire juniors....get competing.
