Berkshire Report - Nicola Heron.Well this is going to be a very short report. For once I have no pictures to spread across the page. If you have been doing anything miraculous with your shooting and it does not appear here in this report, then all I can say is that you have not let me know about it. So get on the email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it and send me the information. The DTL Inter-counties report by Phil Seurre. This event was held at Bisley Gun Club on the 2/9/07and the day was near perfect with a light breeze. The Bisley Gun Club committee had taken a third layout from the NCSC which made the day run much more efficiently. They had invested in new traps and acoustics for their own layouts and employed ground staff to help make sure that all squads were in time on the layouts. The Berkshire Team was made up by H Hudson, S Butler, C Miles, P Fraser and R Pottinger. The Vet was P Seurre and the junior was S Clarke. Berkshire started well and it was only in the third and fourth round that they fell into fifth place. This was an excellent performance considering the high standard of DTL shooting in the South East. There were several England shooters at this event. Simon Clarke put in his personal best and also his first 25 straight at a registered DTL competition. He finished in second place in the juniors. Well done again Simon. Phil Seurre, after scoring 50 straight at practice the day before, had to be consoled with winning C Class. Thank you to all the Berkshire shooters for shooting this marathon of an event. The English Open Skeet Doubles Championship was held at Bisley on 9/907. There were 2 excellent performances from Berkshire shooters. Nicky Gryspeerdt still showing great form won the Ladies title with a score of 94 ex 100. Gary Rolls also Berkshire won C Class with 88. Well done to you both. Mark Marshall wins the British Open Sporting with a fantastic score of 93/100, one point clear of M Papworth and M Myers who were both on 92. Well done Mark. Now you may find this hard to believe but due to not having our own database from the CPSA we did not know that Mark was a Berkshire shooter and so we have not listed his successes up to now this year. I am very sorry Mark and hope to be able to put more details in the next report when we get them. Update on Stephen Halfacre at the ABT Home International. This was Stephen's 6th England Cap, he now has 5 caps for A.B.T. and 1 cap for O.T. (Could this be a record for the county?) Stephen and the rest of the England team made their way to Ashbourne just outside Dublin on 7th and 8th of September to compete at The ABT Home International. The weather was dry and sunny throughout the competition and surprisingly no rain!! Stephen's score of 184 certainly help the England Senior Team to Victory. Not only did they win by 25 birds, but the Senior's have won this event every year since 1997.......... a fantastic achievement. Not to be left out The Ladies, Vets and Junior's also did an excellent job and won their respective team events. England’s junior Brett Davies (196) was the Overall Highest scorer of the event. The highest England Senior was New Cap Allen Warren although he is no newcomer to the England OS and English Skeet Teams. The Banquet took place on Saturday evening following the shoot. As we know the Irish are excellent hosts and the evening was enjoyed by all, culminating in the presentation of the trophies. The English did not rub it in –Honestly!!!! Report for the OT Inter-counties - by Keith Kilvington. The SE Olympic Trap Inter-counties was held at the NCSC on Sunday 16th September. The Berkshire team consisted of Ken Harman, Warren Ody, Keith Kilvington, Stephen Halfacre and Eric Davis. Our Veteran was Chris Ricketts, Junior Simon Clarke and Lady Karen Ricketts. The sun was shinning and there was a solid start from the team but the conditions kept changing with the wind and light going in and out, which made the targets tricky to see and even more tricky to hit. We were in second place for most of the competition but fell away in the final rounds to finish 3rd overall a mere 25 targets behind the winners Greater London. Very well done to Dick Fletton who was Overall high gun with a fantastic 99. Thank you to all of the Berkshire shooters who turned out to shoot at the OT. Watch out all you South East Counties we'll be back next year and we will be even stronger. This was another good Inter-counties result for Berkshire's first year in the SE region. Remember all you budding Berkshire shooters out there. We want to see you at the County championships in 2008 earning your County caps and then you can help to bring home the silverware next year. We are always looking to fill places on the Berkshire team as sometimes dates clash with shooters who compete in more than one discipline, so get yourselves ready as next year it could be you representing the County. And finally, do not forget that the last Berkshire County Championship of the year takes place on the 25th of November. Yes you have guessed it...... the Skeet Doubles and it is being held at the NCSC. Please make it a good turn out. |
