The Berkshire English Skeet County Championships took place over two days on 7th and 8th of March 2009. You could not have had two such different days. The Sunday was terrible, wind, torrential rain at one point and some sun. The light and the conditions drifted in and out during the day.
22 Berkshire shooters took part during the two days. It was good to see so many newcomers to Skeet and we hope you enjoyed it and well done to you for competing, we hope to see you at some of the other county championships. There had been difficulties with the Sunday getting booked up so the morale of the story is ‘'if you want to shoot the County Championships then get booked in quick''. Due to difficulties with dates we often have to share our Championships with other counties so get in quick.
Well done to Iain McDonald for coming and trying a new discipline and leaving as County Junior Champion and also giving him max. points for the Junior Supreme title.
The battle for the top places was between the infamous Eric Davies, top lady shot Nicola Gryspeerdt, the lovely Andrew Halfacre, the very useful Andy Pye and Adi Miles (starting his bid for the Supreme). Although the weather was bad on the Sunday it spurred on the shooters to try harder.
Andy Pye reigned supreme as the new County Champion and Nicola nearly knocked him off the top spot and only just missed out by one point having to be happy as the new Lady County Champion. Eric Davis took the Veteran title. AA class went to Ross Pottinger, A class went to Andrew Halfacre, B Class went to Adi Miles and C class went to K Payne.
There will be more photos when the winners get their trophies as not all could get back for the Sunday presentations.........so watch this space for the ‘mug shots'. |
