2009 Olympic Trap Report

A sunny day at the Surrey ground who once again hosted our Olympic Trap County Championship which had an excellent turnout including 5 new faces to the Berkshire trap scene....some of which would be in the mix at the end.

It was last years winner Keith Kilvington who was to set the early pace with 23/25, three point clear of 5 other members on 20/25 including Nick Mc Veigh and Karl Williams who were shooting their first Berkshire comp.

A bit of a slip by Keith on the second round saw Berkshire shooting "stalwart" Stephen Halfacre join him at the head

of the field both on 43/50. Nick was just 2 behind on 41/50

Ann Williams was leading the Ladies competition 6 targets clear of Sarah Haynes.

Eric Davis was leading the Veterans on 39/50.

A faultless 3rd round of 25 straight saw Keith take the lead on 68/75 while Veteran Eric posted a 24/25 to move into 2nd place on 63 with one round to go.

The nerves held and a 24/25 in his final round was enough to claim the County Championship for Keith Kilvington with 92/100.

Runner up and Veterans Champion was Eric Davis with 85. An excellent win for newcomer Ann Williams made her the Ladies County Champion and not to be outdone her son Karl (also in his first championship) took the Junior Championship.

Stephen Halfacre won B class, Carl Miles C class and Nick McVeigh D class.

Congratulations to all the competitors for making it a great day.
