Berkshire ABT Championships

Fareham CTC

20th April

The  ABT Championships were held on 20th April at Fareham CTC and again we had a very warm welcome.

It was a beautiful day for shooting and Berkshires trap shooters were out in force. By the end of the first 50 Stephen Halfacre had stormed ahead with a 47 including a 25 straight, closely followed by the Miles brothers, Carl on a 45 and Adrian on a 46. There were 6 veterans battling it out but the closest three were Malcolm Dobson on 44, Brian Rebbeck on 43 and Michael Vere-Hodge on 42.

Not sure what happened to the Berkshire ladies as only Rachel Harding and Nicola Heron turned out.

Into the afternoon and we saw Stephen Halfacre shoot another 25 straight to match his morning efforts. The Miles brothers were neck and neck to the very end. It was again good to see Berkshire shooters like Nobby Rolls, Warren Ody, Malcolm Dobson, Brian Rebbeck and Mickey Watts all coming out of their comfort zones of skeet or sporting to shoot this trap discipline.

After the last shot was fired we found that once again Stephen Halfacre is unstoppable! He took the county title on 93. Carl Miles finished on 91 to win C Class and Adrian Miles finished on 90 to win A Class.

The Veteran county title went to Malcolm Dobson on 84 and the Ladies went to Nicola Heron on 78 (come on girls, someone must be able to do better than that....where are you!).

Warren Ody won in B Class with 84 and keeping it in the family Andrew Halfacre won D Class with 82.

Just shows that the water must be rich in Berkshire to produce two such fine shooting families the Miles's and the Halfacre's.

Once again Fareham CTC put on a fine show and we look forward to see you all again soon.
