Berkshire DTL County Championship NCSC 21st June
19 Berkshire competitors made the journey to the NCSC for the 2008 Down the Line Championship, which was only one less than the previous year. So a good turnout for one of our Saturday shoots.
For the second championship in a row Carl Miles took the early lead along with Peter Nelson both of them shooting perfect scores of 25/75. Harry Hudson was 1 point adrift on 25/74 and Adrian Miles 2 away with 25/73, Warren Ody also shot a 25 straight with a points score of 72.
The Berkshire ladies were out in force and it was Sarah Haynes in the lead 21/61, Joan Davis 18/52 and Julie Lynch 15/43. The race for top Juniors spot was in full flow and it was Simon Clarke in the early lead with Paul Nelson hot on his heels. Newcomer Freddie Woodward shooting his first competition was the top Colt.
The competition was nip and tuck all the way and after three rounds it was Carl still leading the field on 73/218 but close behind was Malcolm Mason 73/217 and Harry Hudson on 72/215 Sarah was making her mark on this competition and after a fantastic 25/72 in her second round was 16 points clear of her nearest rival. Simon was just in front of Paul in the Juniors category but only by 1 point.
A poor final round for Carl and a almost perfect one for Harry saw Harry Hudson win the 2008 DTL Championship with 97/289. Malcolm Mason was runner up and Veterans Champion with 97/288. Commiserations must go to Warren Ody who had a personal best score of 98 but just a few too many second barrels. Sarah Haynes won her first Ladies County Championship with 87/253.
The Junior competition couldn't be closer with Simon shooting 25/73 and Paul shooting 25/74 in their last rounds it was all tied and it was up to range ‘A' for a shoot off. After a final round of 25 it was Paul Nelson who kept his focus to win the 2008 Junior title, silver medal went to Simon Clarke.
2008 Colts County Champion was Freddie Woodward in his first ever competition.
Class winners were Stephen Halfacre ‘AA', Adrian Miles ‘A', Carl Miles ‘B' and Bill Hartman..aka Super Coach winning ‘C' A great day was had by all and congratulations to all the winners |
